The Museum of Industrial History, Opatówek

The Museum of Industrial History in Opatówek was founded in 1981. Its home is an almost two-hundred year-old former Fiedler's textile factory. The classicist factory complex, extended between 1824 and 1939, once was a typical example of industrial architecture. Today it is a rarity in Europe. The museum focuses on documenting and studying industrial heritage and disseminating knowledge about it. Its collections chart the industrial history of Europe, Poland, and the region of Kalisz. The museum is particularly proud of its collection of 72 pianos, the oldest of which were produced in the early 19th century, the youngest – in the mid-20th century. They are all a testament to Polish piano-makers' contribution to the musical heritage of Europe. Currently, 52 instruments are exhibited in a wooden workshop measuring over 300m².
